A New Chapter: You Can Find Me on Substack! ✨

Friends, it's time.

Ten years ago, in 2016, I started this blog at a crossroads. I was leaving my middle school library and stepping into a brand-new journey as an elementary school librarian in rural Georgia, and I started writing as a way to reach out beyond my own four walls. I wanted to build connection, to find my people, and to share honestly what was working in my library... and what absolutely wasn't.

I had no idea then just how far the road would wind. Makerspace journeys, library adventures, creative literacy sparks, conference reflections, and everything in between. A full decade of stories, and a full decade of you showing up, reading, and cheering each other on.

And now? I'm moving into a more modern age. Or, as a certain wise Jedi might put it, a more elegant platform for a more civilized age. 😉

Why Substack?
Here's my honest truth: this blog was born from a longing for connection, and a website, for all it has given us, only lets the conversation flow one way. I write, you read, and it ends there. We have shared so much in this space over the years, but it has always felt a little limited in the very thing I created it for. If my years in libraries, classrooms, and creative communities have taught me anything, it's that the magic happens in the back-and-forth. In the comments, the questions, the "wait, tell me more about that," and the "here's how I tried it with my students."

Moving to Substack lets me finally build the space I was reaching for when I hit publish on that very first post. It's a place where:

• My writing lands right in your inbox, with no algorithm deciding whether you see it
• We can actually talk in comments, threads, and real conversation
• Everything connects, so my posts, my socials, and our community can finally live and breathe together

​Connection and support come first, because that is why I started writing in the first place, and it's what I care about most deeply.
